TonyTerner and Bejewelme invited my BF and me to Tony's place to teach us all about cabbing. They taught us all the ins and outs and let us each attempt our very first hand-worked cab machine cabs. This was mine. I suspect it is Chert; found it locally. When we looked through Tony's magnifying goggles, we could see scratches that really came out in the pic. Oh well... My BF, Billy put me to shame. Turns out that he is easily able to transfer his dentistry skills to lapidary. We suspect this to be a quartz. The orange really deepened as he worked it. Here are a few from my latest vibe batch. This is a suspected Labradorite. The next two are also possibly quartz. A sparkly Citrine from my neighbor's creek. This is a river rock that I took from my garden and sliced up. No clue what it is. Some local Serpentine A gemmy conglomerate suspected to be Peristserite Our utmost gratitude to Tony and Amber for their generosity and hospitality and for firmly planting the cab machine bug in us! LOL. Jo

Well Jo, the pleasure was ours, and you both did a great job!!! Nice other items you posted!!! We are so glad you had so much fun, and I see a cab machine in the back of your RV real soon!!! Bill really had the natural knack for it, and I think he really enjoyed himself. Soon you can come and try my new machine!!! Amber

I like the first one too, nice colors! You need to get the cab machine first, then by a house....I'm just helping you get your priorities straight. ;D

So now that you've created a few hand cut cabs, are you ready to buy your own machine? Great job! Much better than my first cabs.

Actually I didn't really teach you guys anything, you seemed to know what you were doing. Both of your cabs are fantastic for first cabs, way better than mine.

Hey Jo, Thats great news Buddy! Sounds like your getting in to the cabbing, and by the looks of your first attempt you've got a hidden talent! ;D That's a beautiful stone, really like the colour, the two varieties of patterrn running in differing directions is fascinating. You got a great shine too! It's a keeper! Number 1 is a special stone Buddy, I'm glad you enjoyed the fun and found a new skill, we can't wait to see if you take up the wheels so to speak! ;D The other vibe stuff you have is awesome Buddy! I love that Serpentine, looks like it took a great shine and the colour and pattern look really warm and earthly. Those are lovely stones, picking local material is always nice for the tumbler! Great job all round I'd say! Good tutoring and enthusiastic learning, a combination sure to succeed, and those results are proof! ;D Cheers, Sparkles.

Jo, you two did wonderful first cabs! Need to wrap them! Your garden stone has a neat pattern to it also. Need to find more of that stuff! All in all, you are doing a great job right off the bat! Keep up the good work! Fran
