I have a bunch of nice slabs and would like to "farm them out" to some of you to make me some cabs.
I'm not worth a flip on the grinder, so I figure I'll have somebody that's good at it do them for me.
I'll get some pics up and if anybody is interested, let me know. I'm kinda poor, so can't afford to pay a lot, but will make trade - do a couple cabs for me, you keep the rest of the slab or something similar. It's negotiable.

Okay folks, here are some pics. I used to know the names of all these but in the years I haven't been doing anything with my rocks, I have forgotten. Now, if I can just remember how to post pics! This is the whole batch And here are some more in smaller groups With the exception of the bottom left in the 4th pic and the top left two in the last pic, I think several cabs can be made of all the others. Those three, I think two small cabs could be coaxed out. Don't know though. Any takers, other than Beef, who has already sent me a PM and gets first choice. llana

Second picture - Top right and bottom left. What type of rocks are they? I have no idea! I bought them at the rock show several years ago and I knew what they were then, but have forgotten! The are both translucent, about 1/4" thick. The top one is 4-1/2" at the longest point and 2-1/2" at the widest point. The bottom is 4-3/4" by 3-1/2" - actually just a bit shy of 3-1/2. The back side of both are actually prettier than the sides I took the photo of. A little more red/orange showing on the reverse side of the bottom one. OPPS, after looking at the pics again, I realize the pic is of the prettier sides! I think they would both make some great freeform cabs. You interested? llana

I wish I was better at the grinder and I would do them myself! ;D ;D
If I had new blades and my saws set up somewhere warm, I could at least cut and tumble them. But, I am not getting out in the cold shed, not even to cut rocks! I love rocks, but hate the cold more.

I love that red one. I had a little piece of it that I tumbled and it's beautiful. That piece is about 1/4" thick, 3-1/2 x 3. Should be able to get several cabs out of it. Or one big one and a couple of smaller ones.
The other is a piece of pet. rock that was collected in the Painted Desert by an old indian guy before the PD was made a national park. It's 1/4" thick and 3 x 2 across. It has some fractures in it.
It will probably be Friday, maybe even Monday, before I can get them in the mail. I live in the sticks and am going the opposite direction from the PO the next couple of days.
