I have had this rough for about a year now and remembered on Friday that I had it. So this was my hot Saturday night me cabbing and my son watching asking if I'm done. This moss agate is not a common material matter of fact I would like to see if anybody can guess what kind it is. It is from Oregon. I had a hard time with the tip it broke off as this material chips very easy. Jason

That turned out really nice! All of the moss I have does the same thing tumbled or cabbed. Just chips and undercuts. errrrgh. Makes me so mad! I have no clue (except your one from Oregon) what kind of moss that is but it sure has a pretty flow pattern to it! Fran

Very nice stone, excellent dome; I would guess Priday Moss agate (Red Bed).

Wow that's one nice cab and one super hard guessing game and Oregon has red mosses of all shapes and forms all over the place. Plus moss often has a different look depending on how it's cut. I'd almost call that one a plume or flame type. ( *L* I know excuses excuses). Could be from a Priday Egg all right. Could also be Antelope creek Moss, Medford Moss or Bear Creek Moss or a host of others *S*......Mel

Beautiful stone and you turned it into a perfecly shaped and shined cab! I bet your son was fascinated by the progress of the work.

Yes it's a Priday Moss Thunderegg. The other half is getting polished as a specimen since I love Thundereggs.
HPD I had a feeling that if anybody you would be the one to get it since it comes from your backyard.

Hey Jason! That is one astonishing Moss Agate! What a fabulously rich colour and shine, and your shape and that high dome, just wonderful. I love moss in all it's varieties, but I've rarely seen such a deep brown colour, looks like a wonderful bed of kelp, I'm expecting a Conger or Cod to swim out at any second! Thanks for sharing your fantastic work, your cabs are really beautiful. Cheers, Sparkles.

That's a beautiful cab! I would also guess it is from Richardson's Rock Ranch (moss bed) since I dug some just like it last year and boy is that hard digging! It's all chisel work but well worth it. The red bed could have some of this material too, but I've never dug the red bed.
