I am not a political type person, not do I get involved in those types of discussions, but I am so happy to see that President Bush has commuted the sentences of two fomer border patrolmen who have been in jail for the last couple of years for shooting (on the butt) a convicted drug runner then trying to cover up what they did. It was wrong, but the amount of time they received was way beyond reasonable. That guy is now in jail too after being caught smuggling drugs. His word proved much more powerful in court in spite of his record, which jurors were not allowed to see. Congratulations on being free at last Mr. Ramos and Mr. Compean.

I have to agree with you on this one. I am so glad they are getting out. What I read today said it could take up to two months for their release. Seems we went so hard on them and let the drug dealer walk away (that time). Fran

Yeah, but it should have been a pardon. If they hadn't tried a cover up it probably would have been. Now, even though free, they stand convicted of a felony and will have a tough time finding work....Mel

They would have never been convicted at all if the jurors had been told of this drug running, illegal's record.
Interesting, isn't it, that these two border control agents get 10-12 for shooting an illegal, drug running scum in the butt and a city cop/sheriff/swat team NEVER gets convicted of shooting some black kid in the back, an innocent guy sleeping on the sofa when the SWAT team bursts in (opps! wrong house) or any number of other killings of innocents.
I am glad their sentences were commuted and they will be going home to their families soon.
