After a few weeks of cleaning out the garage and building a work area(still have some junk to get ride of) I had spot in garage that was unfinished (bare studs and insulation) just the right size for the new machine the tumbler, Saw and drill.. so in went some cabinets and counter top, plugs for all the equipment, and some plumbing for all. finished all the plumbing yesterday. Today was the day to start grinding. Here are a few pics of the new shop and my first two cabs so to speak. the first one (pic Jasper) was just a grind to get the feel. the green moss agate (I think) was my second one .This cab King is Awesome what an amazing ability to get finished product in moments instead of months like in tumbling. HHHHHOOOOOOKKKKKKEEEEEEDDDDD. Now where is the best place to get some good rough for cabbing. I see they sell alot on the wheel and deal page. Good Place to start? Thanks for lookin

Nice set-up, you've got a great work area. Looks like you've cut some nice cabs already. I get most of my slabs at local rock shows and occasionally get stuff on eBay and Dragonsaye auctions.

I've been wondering about the cab-king, the price is so much better than what I paid for the Genie. Very cool, and it's awesome to see another cabber join in. Post plenty of pics, and give us a status on how much you're liking this machine. That's definately a nice looking machine BTW.

Your work area is so.........clean. Not for long lol Great job on the cabs. I really like the green moss.
You could post a thread in the buy/sell/trade section that you are wanting some rough. A number of members regularly sell here. stonesthatrock would be a good one.........also michaeljohn and desertdweller. There are others as well.

I have a weakness for green moss - it's just so pretty!
Yeah you're set up is too clean - show us how dirty you can get cabbing!

Now that is a sweet set up! I would say just keep the tumblers going and save the nice tumbling rough pieces to slab and cab. The idahorockshop.com (catmandewe) has some nice slabs to get started on that won't break you and also some really good material so it is always worth checking there. Desertdweller at mybluerocks.com has beautiful stuff and from what everyone says, just PM her with questions and she will let you know what she can do for you. I think that is true for most of our members that actually sell here (Michael John puts up some really nice stuff that I can vouch for too). Hope that can get you started. Fran

wonderful set up and great looking cabs. If you ever find time you can look at my flickr acct and see some of my slabs and rough. The rest of the members they mentioned is also a good place to start. my flickr is listed right under my post. the etsy doesn't have much right now, as i am waiting until after my show in late feb. to redo it.

Great looking cabs but that set-up has to change. It needs rock snot sprayed everywhere. Oh wait, that will come with time. lol Lots of great deals on rocks to be had here.

Great job on the shop and cabs! I see you have an ample supply of electrical outlets. You just can't have too many of them in your shop (as long as you don't overload your circuit). I'm betting a year from now you'll have shelves behind your cabbing machine. Keep up the good work!

Well, as luck would have it, I looked at the first picture again and saw your shelves. I think it was the doors that threw me! I thought that wall behind your cabbing machine (second picture) looked way too clean/un cluttered! Nice job!

THANK YOU ALL!!!!!!
You guys make everyone feel so good with such kind words this places ROCKS!! ha ha.
I will check the web sites listed and check around in here for some material.
Just got the saw hooked and plumbed in so tomorrow is CAB SUNDAY
Those first few cabs i showed have not been thru 14,000 polish yet just the 3000 wheel.
not experienced with any other machine but have to say this thing is AWESOME, smooth, quite and not a lot of spray. I am totally dry (except My forearms ) after 3 cabs
Thank you again Steve

Your workshop looks quite comfortable! But, it is much too clean. Must get busy making many cabs and sling some rock snot!
Great cabs! Great looking machine!
