Nice work! Much prettier than anything I've built. :-)

So what is it you did for a living? Professional cribbage player? xistera maker? ;D
These are some sweet pieces of equipment.
Got any pix of what they can produce?

Very nice craftsmanship. Well thought out. The LoveJoy coupling is a great idea to reduce the stress on the motor bushing/bearings.
Couple of questions.
Are you using an offset on the shaft, or a weight. If so, how much.
I do not see any dirt on them. Have you had a chance to see how they work. Does the material rotate, or shake in place. The reason I ask is I am only a few days from starting to build my Vib's.

You may well be typing with one finger, but you sure as hell did not build any 'homemade' equipment using only one finger! Very nice to such craftsmanship. Woody

Thanks for all the kind complements, I appreciate it. I hope I'm not getting too overbearing with all the pics I've been posting. If I have, please let me know.
Dr Joe, I'm an old retired steelworker that can't relax unless I'm doing something. I've got some pics of some of my tumblings and lap projects I'll post a little later.
Utah, I'm using assorted weights that are held to the shafts with set screws. Different size weights is the way to go, especially if you make your vib to use a lap pan. I don't know what the weights weigh but they are made from 1/2X 1 1/4 bar from 1 1/2 to 2 1/4 long in 1/4 increments with the hole centered 1/2 from one end. I used 3/8 cold rolled shafting. At the time of the pics, I had only used the red one, but with the lids in place they don't get very dirty. These work every bit as good as my Gy-Roc, or with multiple weights, better. The material rotates around the bowl as it folds into the center and comes up on the outside. You won't have any trouble with yours, I've seen what you can do.

Thank You rockbottom, This information is just what I needed. I like the idea of vib verses a rotary because of the time involved. I was lacking the information as to how to construct the vibrating mechanism. You just answered it for me.

Utah, when you build your vib, you may want to go belt drive like I did on my first 10lb vib, if you don't have access to Lovejoy couplings. I'll post some pics of it and you can see one more way to go. This one can be used for a tumbler or a vibro lap, which is what I used it for mainly. Its got several thousand hours on it making pen stands and has used just 2 belts in all that time. The LoveJoy is not a problem. I have a couple of them. I even have a some Couplers from washing machines that use the slitted rubber to isolate the motor from the trans.
I was thinking of a belt drive as well to isolate the motor from the constant hammering of the vib. I like how you use the O-Ring belt in this one. I was thinking along the same line as a O-Ring belt can stretch where a normal V-Belt can not. This will isolate the motor even more. The best part is I can make my own O-Ring pulleys on my lathe.

Utah, yeah I've had to make my own pulleys too, they're hard to find, and when you do find them, very expensive....Bob
