Here are some Montana Moss freeform cabs I did recently....I like freeforms partially because I suck at making ovals and circles...lol These agates hold special meaning for me....they were all collected by my Grandfather, who helped get me interested in rocks as a kid. I remember loving to go to his house as a child and see all his rocks. He passed away last year at 93....working on these agates of his helps me remember him....

They are all fantastic cabs that would bring a big smile to your Grandfathers face. Bet he was looking down at you as you cut and shaped each one.

Wow Mike,
Those are beautiful Montana's and killer shape and shine! It is even better because it is a true legacy, handed down by your grandpa. your attention to the lapidary art and the material given to you were both gifts from him and I can understand how it makes you feel closer to him. I know he is proud of what you did with these! Fran

Very nice cabs, Mike. I too think of my grandparents and father when working with my rocks. My grandparents were avid rock hounds and my father knew a lot that he learned from them. Unfortunately by the time I got seriously interested in rocks all of them had passed away. I still feel that I have a bond with them through rocks; if they hadn't planted the seed years ago I might not have ever started collecting rocks.

My bond with rocks flows from my grandparents, too. I always feel like I have two angels on my shoulders when I'm working with rocks, especially the types of materials my grandparents liked to collect.
You've got a nice batch there. I especially like the swoopy one you made the big photo of. Great honey color, and I love the shape.

Those are beautiful but more special because they were your grandfather's.
Thanks for sharing.
