I haven't had a lot of time to cab lately but I have managed to sneak in a few here and there. I've changed my picture set up, somebody absconded with mine ;D, but she made up for it by lending me the one she bought to experiment with. Here are the last 3 weeks worth of cabs.
Michael John's chrysocolla.
Moonstone from Naturenut. This is the flashiest piece of this I've had, it shows blue at the right angle.
Brecciated jasper that Amber bought from Catmandew.
Dendritic opal.
Fire agate.
Fossil palm root. Its a bit pitty. Next one will get the pits filled.
Graveyard plume, probably my favorite of the bunch.
Leaves for Adrain's tree.
Mahogany obsidian from the rock-in-the-cache box.
Marcasite in agate. I love this material.
Mexican jelly opal. I tried tin oxide on it and it polished it up fairly well only there were cracks in the opal. I had sealed the cracks with CA glue but they obviously didn't fill all the way up since the TO is stuck in them. I tried an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner but it didn't work. Its pretty thick so I'll just regrind it using diamond belts.
Polish flint. This one has a pink stain through it from a marker. I thought I could grind through it but it goes down deep into the stone. I'll try acetone or paint thinner to remove it. I'll have to remember not to buy light colored material that has the price written on it in marker.
Rolling hills dolomite that Amber gave me for Christmas. This was going to be a set for her but I somehow misplaced the earrrings I had made and can't find them anywhere.
Red mushroom jasper, another gift from Amber. I love this stuff.
Roan leopard marble from my favorite ebay seller in Utah.
Royal velvet obsidian. Its hard to photograph the color in this.
Serpentine, source unknown.
Serpentine from Utah.
Blue and red agate from Utah.
Tiffany stone. Amber bought this at the her first rock show. She tried shaping it but wasn't happy with it and asked me to regrind it for her.
Tahoma jasper. I bought a box of rocks from Woodyrock in a PIF auction and there was a nice chunk of this in the box. I've always loved this stuff and was not disappointed. The photo doesn't even come close to doing this cab justice. Thanks Woody, I can't wait to cab more of it.
This is what happens to my finger when I cab and its cold out. My basement is around 68 degrees and I use hot water but my finger still goes white. Been to the doc, nothing to be done but be thankful that it doesn't happen to all the fingers like it usually does when people get this condition.
Thanks for looking and reading.
