Those scales will look great on that skinner. I got into jewelery as I was a master sword maker. Damascus was second nature to me. One of the first jewelery items I made was a Mokume'Gane Suki! I tried to set rubies in the eyes and found my weaknesses. Today, after all these years of jewelery, my rotator cuffs are totally shot. I cannot lift my arms over my head. I miss the ring of the hammer. I recognise the techniques in the Damascus blades you have. I made several types. My favourite was star Damascus. I used to get lengths of Drag Line cable. The ends would be welded in the lengths I wanted. I would soak the steel in alcohol untill the grease was gone, then alcohol and boric acid, light it to coat the steel with Boric acid, coat with Borax and into the forge! After planishing, I would either roll it out in my rolling mill, or hammer it out, folding it as I went. They are treasures. Keep em sharp, you never know.

Yeah, I'll admit it, I'm a knife fancier too, especially the antique stuff. I sold a lot of mine off before I moved but still have a lot of antique damascus swords and kris mainly from Indonesia. Nice batch of blades you have there. I'm a fan of damascus and finally, due to Japanese manufacturing, the prices have come down. Used to be found only in real high end custom jobs. About the only modern knives I kept are my butterfly knives which could not be sold in Calif and my carry knives which are mainly Blackjacks or Eks. I do have a pile of folders too cause I have a tendency to lose them all the time *L*...Mel

Nice collection, I like the look of the knives made from steel cable. A friend of mine, Jim Miller from Waterloo here, made an interesting knife from part of a Meteorite that he bought. He polished it to a mirror finish and then acid etched the blade. Jim makes a good many knives for his customers but that one probably won't be sold .

I really like Damascus steel. I had an antique double barrel shotgun made with Damascus and some slimeball broke into my house and stole it.

Beautiful knives, I also like Damascus style blades. Please post that kife after you are ready with the handles, awesome materials you chose. Next step, maybe you'll make a knife entirely, including the blade Adrian

Cool stuff Earth. I like sharps too- but all my knives are tools and as such need to be used. I could never have something that nice as I would be strapping them to my belt and cutting down cardboard boxes with them in no time.
