Beautifully Sunny Day here in Utah....just a teeny-bit cold. I was actually able to do a few cabs...and Echostones! I sure hope I don't bore you all with the Echostones...I'm just a little addicted to them though. Here's you go... Leopardskin Jasper FIRST BO in progress. (Thanks Ed!) I'm not too sure when to stop grinding. Lots to learn with this stuff. Right now I'm almost on a metallic layer or something. Echostones....all Laguna Agates. I think the healed fracture is actually really COOOOL! This is just my next one I'll be working on....well maybe down the road. Ed and myself did a little trade a while back...and he included some very nice BO's! This one is incredible. I'm thinking about doing a doublet on this one. The light show is just awesome! I have some questions I'm going to post in the Lapidary Tips section. It's about Diamond Paste and Leather pads. I'm still thinking I'm not getting the maximum shine on all my cabs. If you think you could help...swing over and read my questions. THANKS a BUNCH! Steve

Steve, those echostones are all of them real beauties! And the boulder opal that you finished, you knew when to stop compared with me. I only stopped whed I begun to grind my fingers instead of the stone. Very good job on a very difficult material. And that boulder opal in progress is gorgeous! You're right to make a doublet out of it, too beautiful to ruin that pattern.

Great job Steve! I've been working on a boulder opal for months. One of these days, either it or I will be finished. ;D

Some good looking cabs there. I've given up on B.O. (for now). I'm sure I'll get the fever again sometime but I need to get better stuff as what I have is too disappointing. Yours looks really nice and the pattern on the last one is great. That healed fracture in the laguna really makes a neat cab.

That is a wonderful set of cabs and Echo stones. You caught the flash beautifully in the Opal and the healed fractures in that Laguna gives the pattern a really neat effect.
You sure took advange of a beautiful day.

Very nice work. I really like the patterns in the first one. The photo is also spectacular, really captures the fine detail. The Laguna's are sweet, especially the pinkish ones. I've never cut the Boulder opal before. I have a few choice pieces that I might be brave enough to cut soon. HPD

Steve: Nice work those opals are killer!! That BO is a love hate, it is like gambling, you grind then look, grind then look, and in a flash you can grind right through the color!! I am impressed you allowed your Genie to get dirty with those opals!!! I resolved to only cab them at Tony's where he has the overhead water valves!!! The pink lagunas and the first set are my favs, I never tire of looking at lagunas!!! You are the Laguna King!!! Amber

Steve I think your opal looks good. I personally think there isn't really a secret to grinding but finding quality material is another story. Unless one is rich or knows a miner it tough to find decent rough. Look forward to the finished cabs.

Great batch, Steve! I think the healed laguna is my favorite...I love the pattern the healed fracture makes in both the cab and the echostone. Great job on the BO, too! I definitely see some fire in that first one. The BO in progress is going to be KILLER when it's done!

Great looking stones. Those opals are certainly organic looking. What does the term echo stone signify? I can see you are referring to Laguna agates. Do other agates qualify for this term? Thanks for the show.
