Well Spring seemed to have sprung here this past weekend, with temps in the 70's after a blizzard on Monday!!! Fran sent me a beautiful Yellow Adventurine Wrapped Cab!! Thanks again Fran!!
I love this cab, and my aunt who was with me on Friday night loved it too, and tried to steal it from me!!! My aunt said she wanted a yellow cab, so I thought it was time to slice up my yellow slab of Ocean Jasper and think of summer!!!
Ocean Jasper
Mt. St. Helen's-from Woody -Next time I am leaving the yellow crystals on the side unfinished and natural, this is beautiful stuff!!
Then I got the deal of the century on lapis from ebay, 2 pounds for $15, I was afraid it wouldn't be nice, but it is super!!! I made a
Lapis Slab Cab-the biggest ever, almost 3x2 inches, I will get a sprained neck wearing this, but I love it!!! I left a thick girdle to have it groove wrapped!
My other deal of ebay was 2 pounds of fire agates from San Diego for $10, not sure how to work this stuff, so I need advice!!!
It is neat stuff, just not sure how far to grind, and do I take off the white part?
Fire Agate
Condor Agate- this poor thing logged some serious frequent flier miles, I just could not hold on to it!!! Now I see it is all scratched up, and I love condor agate, so this one is going back to the wheels!!!
Local Stuff from PA- Naturenut found a new spot and these are from there! I am so bummed about the hairline cracks in them, they are such pretty colors, just really soft and fractured.
Same Rock
Quartz- it looked blue, but it has some cool stuff in it!
My favorite of the bunch
I got a great big box of Lakers from North Shore Rocks, he had a note on this piece. Here is what he wrote:
That seam agate is different than anything I find up here. I has not been glaciated. It's getting broke out of basalt when a river floods. It is hard though. I put a couple pieces in with my agate load, and it's holding up well and starting to shine! The rocks were so crumbly on the outside when I found them, I almost didn't bring them home...then I cut into them and saw they were gorgeous inside. That is the first place on my list when the snow melts and the river comes down. I think I'll be able to find more and better pieces, so don't be nervous about working with it.
Thanks NSR- I love it and will make you a better one with the next piece !!!!
Many thanks to all my RTH'er buds that are so kind!!!
