im sure this will turn political....but who cares ;D.
i thought there were a few businesses that may be immune to the economic down turn that we do business with.....i was wrong apparently.
1 is kimberly clark diaper division here in town.....when they run 7 days a week 24 hours a day....they stayed about 20 days ahead of orders.....now they are 90 days ahead of orders.....they are now making people use all of there vacation time....and are actually going to shut the whole plant down during masters week....never before has this happened.
what are folks doing?.....going back to cloth diapers?....making babies wear them a little longer?
2nd...is a toilet paper tissue mill.....they provide toilet paper for every one....name brands and cheap stuff....fast food places also.
are people saving on toilet paper?....and wiping there rearend less?...me being at home...or work...i gonna have a cleaned rearend.
3rd....is the paper mill that makes the red and yellow packets under the meat you buy in the grocery store....there business is off big time also.....are we buying less meat?.....even if folks went to cheaper cuts of meat....seems that the packets would be the same....they are for saving freshness....and actually work.....are we going back to meat offered in a styrofoam only packaged meat?
im just wondering out loud....cause i may be without of a job soon if this keeps up.....kev.

Sask,
You must have read a bit of the website?
Shake, scrape, swish, or squirt off anything you don't want in your laundry, and then toss the wipe into the pail or container.
Uhhhhhh, I dont think so. LOL ;D

I wonder if maybe the people who buy from these plants/industries have kept a large inventory in the past, but now are using some of what they have on hand and waiting to order more?
I'm puzzled, too. There may be other technologies for the meat packing, but diapers and TP are pretty much a necessity!

Ya know, I've been thinking about this and it seems like a lot of this financial thingy is almost choreographed. Kinda makes you wonder who's running the show, don't it?

Its simple. People are eating less (yea, right) so they go to the bathroom less, thus use less paper??? Bob

I will say cloth diapering has been on an upswing in recent years. I only know this because my sister used to be a cloth diaper freak. She still loves them (swaps patterns!), and loves to purchase new ones, but she's reverted slightly and will use disposable diapers out in public and on vacation. Our family thanks her.
Now, toilet paper? That's one thing that will never NOT grace my house!

One of my thoughts is that each of the businesses that you listed, do not have a monopoly on the products they make and sell and perhaps the contracts ended or that they lost the bids that they placed with end users. I would imagine that competition for contracts with end users is cutthroat right now. I think all businesses are cutting down, even if they are surviving, just because of the way things are going.
That's just my 1 cent thought.
Oh, Curt, I think you are on to something. You know how everything will fall if you strategically plan, place and push over that first domino.

Have to throw in some trivia....TP is just barely 100 years old, and we can not even think of not having it. Woody

no doubt about it - its Bushes fault! lol
Hard to even guess whats driving these businesses down. I read a CNN story about immigrants returning to Mexico because they can't find work, but it doesn't seem like that would have a huge impact. We haven't really cut back, but we are simple folks anyway. We sure haven't stopped wiping!

I just heard on the news that this new stimulus bill is used to create or save 2 million jobs...mostly in the government and construction sectors...of which are controlled by many unions...so the big trade off will be that 1/3 or up to 300,000 - 400,00 jobs are to be given to illegals.
It's wonderful that your tax dollars are at work...
Join the "New American Tea Party" maybe we might have a voice after all...

So jerryde, you think that unions are the reason for the illegals? I question your logic, vehemently.

In our house, we are using leaves to wipe our butts! Been doing it for years. The only downside is when you get a piece of ass, you know when your finger breaks through the leaf...

Wow! I know I'd never want to be without my ultra soft TP! You'd think that would be a pretty solid industry what with the world being so full of crap these days *S*.....Mel
Edog: Tried that when pheasant hunting with my dad. Was just a little fellow and didn't know about some leaves being kinda fuzzy and itchy. That day I learned *L*.....Mel

No, but they will get the ahead of the line treatment. But, I have worked in union shops...never ever liked it...you were always following some a..hole's who made the decisions for all the little sheep that never ever had a desire to really get ahead and make their job easier...faster...cheaper...for the good of the company...
look at all the zombies working on the line for GM...doing the same 3 bolts in the hole for 30 years and never questioning that there could be a better way...plus the big one...
The privilege of paying dues that went to only "God" knows where...(the big powerful union bosses meetings) so they can scam the little guy out of more while giving them crumbs that are left over...but, yea...you get to wear the special jacket with the "Union" patch...
been down there before...just like "Obama" and crew, He gets to eat the steak and lobster...but you dumb..s get to pick up the tab... my opinion...
