How common is it for you to pull something out of a tumbler and decide it would make a good cab? I have a couple weird natural shapes that are in my current batch that I swear just need a flat back and they'd be instant cabs.

I've done that too. Some are just too good to leave as a tumble and just need a little flattening to finish them off. Fran

I've got a bunch like that! I have a whole pile that I tumbled before I got the CabMate that I'm trying to get to finish off. So many rocks, so little time! kj

Before I got my slab saw, I did that quite a lot, tumble through one or two stages then take it to the workforce to make slabett/blanks. That way about half the forming work is already done, all thats left is to cut a nice bezel edge, even things up and polish.
