I refuse to have anything to do with IE...it's truly an awful browser. Firefox or bust...

A couple of my friends have tried it - they can't see many differences between 7 & 8. Still pretty buggy from what I've heard. One friend's computer froze up; one friend found it faster; and one friend found it slower.

People are all the time praising Firefox. I use it on a limited basis and get a lot of errors and it's very slow sometimes. I use it mostly here so it may be the forum and not firefox.

Still using IE7. If the new version is actually an IMPROVEMENT over the last one I might upgrade but more likely than not, the new version will have more bugs in it than an abandonned house in New Orleans. I'm very tempted to switch to Firefox but I loath learning to use new software and i'm not entirely convinced that it would cause me LESS grief than IE does...?

I've been using Firefox for years. It does what I need a browser to do, and it's very stable. It's also much less vulnerable to attack than IE.
I have IE8 installed, which I only use for rare occasions when IE must be used. It seems to be okay, but since I've only used it a few times, I don't have enough experience with it to give any meaningful input.
Apple Safari and Google Chrome are relatively new browsers which are under heavy developement. They're still buggy, but it'll be interesting to see how they work-out in the future.
For the PC, Apple now has Quicktime, iTunes, and Safari. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Apple develops a PC operating system in the near future, probably Unix/Linux-based. If it can effectively run clusters, it could have huge impact.

I've been using Firefox since it came out and have never looked back. It has progressively gotten fatter/slower over the years, though. I use Chrome now and again. It has the speed that Firefox used to have. I like it, but just haven't made the switch. Hmmm....Apple and Cluster----well, I won't go there. LOL ;D They do build some pretty nice consumer devices, though. (BTW, I'm not a PC bigot. I used/owned Macs for years back in the day. The price/performance ratio just isn't there anymore.) None of which answers e-dog's question. What little I know about IE8 is covered here: www.nytimes.com/2009/03/26/technology/personaltech/26basics.html?_r=1&scp=6&sq=pogue%20internet%20explorer%208&st=cseChuck

Apples have always been very expensive compared to "similar" PCs. But, if you have the need for them, they're worth their weight in gold. My G4-400, which I bought new in 2000 (for $1500), still works just like it did when it was brand new, with never a single hardware problem. I can't say the same for any of the PCs I've owned since then. I use the G4 for running Digidesign Digi001/ProTools LE music recording hardware/software. Hmmm ... would an eco-friendly cluster running a Mac OS be a "Green Apple Tree"

The first time I ever used Firefox was the last time I ever used IE.
