All of these have been treated with liver of sulfa. It is a method for adding patina, or antiquing to the silver. You sand up the piece...where you want it to go..and paint it on until it is as dark as you want, then sand or buff off the excess. These will probably be worked further, but I thought I'd post them for those interested in process. I had about 10 pieces in my first batch of projects. Some I haven't finished yet, and several go into the melter These have escaped that fate so far Koroit in silver.... Koroit in silver....I have to say burnishing down the bezel wire on an inside curve is as tough as cutting a good gridle on an inside curve sapphire in silver....it's a piece of mine run I was experimenting with. The ring actually gets near what I had in mind with the liver of sulfa. But I just took too much off on all of them. I need a better brush to apply it with, and need to work it darker then remove it more selectively. I haven't sealed in the stone yet as I'm wondering if I might not want to put in a better stone and wear the ring for a while. More experimenting Thanks, Tony

Well Tony, you just want to do it all, dontcha? Your silver work is looking great and will only get better.
I wouldn't talk about the liver of sulfa much if I were you. PETA is going to be all over you. Just imagine all those poor sulfas that gave their livers so you can do this.

Tony, those look great. With all the steps involved with silversmithing, these works of art are definitely a labor of love.
Curt, that was funny!

Great work there, Tony! I really like the pendants, and looks like you've got the liver of sulfa down perfectly on the ring! Are you learning on your own or are you taking a class?

Tone.....You're not making it easy on those of us who want to give smithing a try! These are very nice. I really like the raised designs on the backing plate-is that hammered wire that is soldered down, or...?

Its great watching you progress as you learn. These are much better than you first attempts. Can't wait to see your next attempts.
Curt, are you trying to dis that wonderful group of humanitarians? I've never met a more level headed bunch of people in my life. I expect to run into a bunch of them next weekend as they throw rocks in the streams to prevent me from catching any trout. What would the world be like without people like that? ;D

Looking good man. Don't feel bad about the scrap pile. We all have them. I am always rummaging through ours for bits and pieces. The scrap pile actually comes in handy sometimes.
