While I haven't posted much lately that doesn't mean I haven't been cabbing. At this point I have about 50 sitting here that haven't been posted and another dozen that will be finished tomorrow night. I guess that's a good amount of cabs for a month. Here is the first bunch in no particular order.
PA moonstone from Naturenut. This piece really has some serious flash in it, the best so far.
Adventurine. This one is pretty big.
Amethyst and agate. I cut this from a small chunk of crystals I got at the local rock shop. It was fun to leave the crystals on the piece. What appears to be scratches in the middle of the stone is actually in the stone.
Devil's toenails. This stone has other names like clam shell agate. The only agate are the clam shells, the rest is pretty soft material and it didn't take a very good shine with either cerium or wet diamond belts.
Dino bone. I got this from Bejewelme who got it from Rockrookie who got it from Steve Holmes. At least that's how I think it went. So how do we link it to Kevin Bacon? ;D
Honduran black opal. This came from Amber too and she bought it from Stonesthatrock. I have to say this is not my favorite rock to cab. It grinds OK but I"m not happy at all with the shine and it has a couple of what I call dead spots in it. I do have another piece to try so hopefully that one will change my mind.
Indonesian fossil coral. This is the second cab of this I've made, the first one sold before I could get a picture. I love the pattern in this stone.
Java lace from Amber. This was pretty thin and it snapped in half right at the quartz line while I was working it on the second wheel. I put some thick superglue on the one side, pushed them together for a couple of seconds then let it sit overnight. Next day it was as good as new.
Koi jasper. At least that's what I think it is. When I met Randy he gave me a big box of slabs (thanks bud) and there was no way I was going to remember what any of them are. This stuff really took a shine.
Ocean jasper from Amber. Its more agate than jasper and only has a little piece of the more classic look but the yellow lines are beautiful. The photo doesn't do it justice.
Boulder opal. This was a small preform that Amber got when she met Stoner this past summer. Its got a pretty pattern.
Unknown. This either came in a box from Jamie or I got it from my favorite Utah ebay seller. I think its the latter. The rock is much prettier in person.
That's it......... for today. lol Thanks for looking.
