What do you do with all these things once you're done with them? I've seen some of the incredible wraps and smithing that people produce on the forum. But you guys must have absolute piles of cabs, wraps, jewelry, etc.

Wrap 'em and swap 'em for cool other stuff. They always come in handy!
Keychains, cabinet handles, dreamcatchers...

I've made over 300 cabs at this point. I've given some away and sold some but probably still have 250. That sounds like a lot but they don't take up much space. Bejewleme had a great idea on how to display them. I won't say anymore until we get ours done and then we will post pics.

The rocks slowly invade every room of your house!!! Being a woman, I love wearing them, I have a special box just for them, seperated in boxes by ones friends made, ones Tony made, ones I made, wire wrapped ones, grooved ones, I am very organized with the cabs! All the wire wrap stuff is together and since I hate it, it seldom moves! I even got rid of shoes and purses, my favorite things to make room for more rocks!!! And then there is superglue, acetone, tix oxide, tmeplates, etc, it just keeps growing, hahaha. As Martha Stewart would say I did have a good idea about displaying I will post soon!! Have fun! Amber

I asked the very same question when I started tumbling and joined this forum 3 years ago. I currently have about 25 pounds of mixed tumbles in zip lock bags, jars, boxes, etc. Those that I've wrapped have been gifted, sold a few and have a web-site that has generated no sales! I don't have as many cabs, but getting there. I have several trays of finished jewelry, from necklaces to bracelets that just sit waiting for me to become the sales person that I am not!!!

I've cut over 1000 cabs. Never tried to sell any. I put them in Ryker boxes and look at them from time to time. Zero interest in making jewelery.

My sister and I display at an art show every summer and sell usually half or three quarters of our stock during that 3-day show. If we have enough, we'll do one at Christmas time and sell more - then we can justify spending another year making them again

Nothing...and that's the problem.
No place to sell them that can attract the right kind of money.

I give a lot them as gifts, I cut a bunch of black jade last year and made earrings out of them and gave them as xmas gifts. Some of them I save for myself. Others I'll trade for stuff, and I sell some of them on consignment at a local bead/jewelry making shop....I certainly don't make a profit on them, it just helps offset a little of the expense associated with rockhounding the material, supplies, ect...

Sell them, keep them, give them away.
