I built a 16 inch saw a before I joined the board.I was amazed at how quickly it would slab a good sized rock compared to my smaller saw,so I nicknamed it the rock shark. After cutting who knows how many slabs the muck was really piling up in the saw and I changed it's nickname to mudshark. Mike

Since day one, I loved being amongst animals, plants and creeks. I nurtured an appreciation of the beauty of natural areas in my three boys and took them backpacking on many segments of the Appalachian Trail starting very young. They still camp and backpack and are drawn to nature, as I am, to this day.
The second part of my name is self explanatory. ;D ;D ;D Jo

I have a large collection of old fishing reels and fishing lures. I used to rebuild some reels and used this name for years. Arne

One of my closest friends nicknamed me snuffy because I was a "Skoal Brother".Only 4 or 5 close friends still call me that after 35 years.I will be pleased to be called by the wonderful RTH members.....Gerald.

My Grandson who is 8 now started calling me DA when he was 2 and still calls me that and my step Grandson named me Mammy when he started talking and I put the two together and got Damammy. Being Grandma has been my happiest role in life. Donna

Well, I wanted to come up with a rock-related play on words. I took my avatar photo some years back and have used it as an email sig for several years. I thought the name and the photo went together, so there you have it.

When I started my web site I tried to find something people would remember. After checking out names on search engines I was surprised that pebblepup was not bringing up any links. Liking the changing of the words in "rock hound" and feeling it accurately described my experience at that time I went with it. Later I found that many gem clubs use that term for their junior members and now the term will bring up other sites. Oh well, I have been using it too long to change now. When I started using forums it seemed like a good way to promote my web site.

My husband was nicknamed "huffstuff" at his first job in industry. This was my first time joining a forum and I didn't take the time to think of something different. My avatar is a sand sifter I took out of my daughter's toys when I started tumbling with my 3-lb Thumlers. I still use it, and I added a big plastic colander at the $.99 store for when I dump my 12-lb tumbler.

Great ? ?? actually i was wondering the same thing . i chose rockrookie because i wanted something with rock in it . and rookie was because i was new to hobby and knew nothing about it .actually i was also new with internet & computers also .(now i type with 2 fingers 1 on each hand ) but i still am not good with digital camera so i've never posted pixs . so i am still very much a rookie . but i do know a lot more about rocks .and can get a good pollish (i am happy with it anyway) thanks to many members on this forum .either from personal contact or by reading posts. the ironic part is .........10 years from now ,i hope to be an accomplished hobbyist .but still have the name rockrookie . thanks to all !! i just hope that i can help others in the future. --------------------paul

Hmm lets see... my wife gives me a hard time about licking rocks. She says... do you know where that thing has been? Why yes, I say... right here on the ground. ;D The name fits. Steve

I've used many handles throughout my days online even pre-Internet days. Two of these names I am more well known for are Malachite and Hematite. When I started on this site I thought I'd drop the amenity guise and went with my real name. This is one of the few places I have done this. This forum is a great place to discuss topics and learn.
