I received a beautiful FRB of Crazy Lace from Arkansan and started slicing on my 14" saw a few nights ago. I'm only getting a slab or two cut before I need to dress the blade.
Is that normal? Am I doing something wrong?
I take an old SIC grinding wheel and cut it a time or two, turn the blade around and cut the SIC wheel another time or two. The saw cuts great for one or two slabs, but by the third is very slow. Should I cut the wheel more times or maybe a brick? Should I not turn the blade around?
All help and suggestions are appreciated.

John If the blade has an arrow, don't turn it. Other than that bit of info, I'm no help. Can't imagine why it won't cut after a time or two.

John,
Just out of curiosity, why do you think you need to dress your blade? There are several things that can cause cutting problems. Here are a few: (1) blade cupped or dished, (2) misalignment between blade and vice, (3) too much sludge in your oil, (4) excessive kerf loss, (5) blade needs to be re-tensioned, (6) vice has excessive play (7) "directional" blade is on backwards, (8) the ways are damaged, (5) feed mechanism has excessive wear, etc . The list goes on and on ....... There should be a troubleshooting manual for lapidary rock saws (maybe there is, but I don't know of any). Re-dressing the blade can help momentarily for some of the items, but obviously will not fix your problem. If you've had a rock come loose in the vice while cutting, or you ran too low on coolant, chances are you need blade repair or replacement. I hope you get it figured out.

Curt & Garry, Thanks for helping!
Just because the saw is cutting super slow. It is gravity feed and blade is not bent in any way, nor is directional. Rock is tight in vice and slides easy. Maybe I need to clean oil or he blade is just worn.
I figured it was money or work related ;D ;D

With my weight feed I clean everything the table slides on then add a little white grease after every slice. The little pieces of grit do slow it down and you will need to add more weight. Dressed that often I would think would shorten the life of the blade considerably. My opinion.
