Yep, in later years, almost every country including the US has issued some dynamite rock and mineral stamps. If you go to the library and check out a Scotts stamp catalog, you'll find a mess of them. US had great sets in 1974 and 1992....Mel

Deep: There are multiple volumes in the Scott catalog. If yu check out US stamp sets for 74 and '92 those should be easy to find. Most the foreign country rock stamps have be since the 70's so you don't have to look at older issues and of course Scotts has pics and descriptions of every stamp in the set. Just google gem and mineral stamps and you'll get a ton of listings.....Mel

hey mel-- those catalog are really neat --first time i viewed them ---thanks to your suggestion-- like to take the time to really check them out--- I think our library had 2 editions on the shelf --2008-2009-- seem like 6 books to a set- broken down alphabetically by countries- massive set of books-- i was a bit tired today for researching--I tried agate, minerals, chalcedony, diamond, emeralds, rubies, -- nada WRONG YEAR! after stamp searching I went into the Arizona Room and perused Lost Dutchman books--that was another hour-- still haven't found the gold, rocks ect.. ect... but boy are my fingers tired ;D I'll check out those years thanks

ED; THis last link was very cool! I am not into stamp collecting, but even when I pay bills I like a happy stamp! Damn we spend enough on them I at least want to smile when I stick them on! I like the Christmas Stamps, I loved the Botticelli this year, my fav Italian painter!

American Federation of Mineralogical Societies has a Commemorative Stamp Committee that is trying to get the USPS to issue more stamps w/ earth science themes. Right now, they're trying to get a set of birthstone stamps produced. They have more information about this project & other rock-stamp matters at www.amfed.org/stamps.htm.
