I thought that high dome plume was pretty impressive until I scrolled one more spot down and that Red Ribbon Obsidian! That is one spectacular piece of rock! It looks like a volcano spewing ash in the air and a flowing river of lava! Very, Very Cool Dan! Hats off to ya again! Steve

Dan, that red ribbon obsidian is fantastic! The images inside look so real, they are 3D! I also like very much the other ones, especially the plume.

HPD: That obsidian is smoking!!!! Man that is a cool cab, I liked the plume too! But man I can't get done looking at that obsidian, it is sort of Native American or something! Was that what you collected on your recent trip? Excellent post as usual!!!! Amber

That is one very special Obsidian cab. I see a bird feather sticking up on top of a mountain. Looks like the wind may have frayed it a little.

The obsidian is from Glass Buttes. I picked up about 10 pounds of choice obsidian slabs when I was down in Prineville last weekend. I do need to get a couple of new pre-polish wheels to set aside just for obsidian. My agate/jasper wheels always seem to add very small scratches to softer materials. An old-timer in my club told me he uses seperate belts for obsidian only.

I thought for sure that high-domed cab was going to be my favorite...until I scrolled down. That red ribbon is smoking hot! I love it! I can't wait to see some more cabs of that stuff.

Ahhh, that is a good bit of info to get about working with obsidian. I have been getting some tiny scratches also. The shine on those is just unreal, and, that obsidian is breathtaking!!

I agree with Steve. I was already drooling over the plume and moss when I saw the obsidian and was plumb blown away. The pattern in that stone is a work of art!.....Mel
