Is anyone familiar with material which is specifically called "Mojave Bloodstone"? The only reference I've found to it is that it was hounded by "Shady" Myrick. He found it and collected/mined it at Brown Mountain, which is about 20 miles WNW of O-w-l-h-o-l-e Springs, and about 5 miles SE of Wingate Pass, slightly within the eastern border of the China Lake military facility.

Damn...only SLIGHTLY inside the fence of the US Navy's 'Area 51'? Not the best place for Ninja rockhounding. Seems like of late way too many rock sites are slighty inside military bases, or wilderness areas, and etc. You know, those public lands that the public is not allowed in. Woody

Mel, I'm not particularly interested in bloodstone, in general, just this particular stuff. I wasn't sure if it's real rare or not. Given that it's not so far from OHS, I figure there's a chance there could be some, or something similar there. Actually, from the couple of pics I've seen of pieces in Shady's collection, it looks sorta like the Devil's Hole Jasper that I collect.
Woody, aint it a "coincidence" how that happens with all of the best gemstone locations? I tried contacting the military to get them to let me into Fort Irwin, and got nowhere. That's the "non-violent" area. China Lake is their actual battle replication area, and that's where Brown Mountain, Searles Lake, Myrick Springs, the Myrickite claim, and Wingate Pass are. I guess they'd rather blow it all to smithereens than let us have it. Bastards.
