Beautiful! That particular Rhodocrosite has an interesting pattern. And the last one too.

That rhodi has a really interesting pattern in it. I've never seen it look that way before. Great shine on all of these.

Tony..I like to cut the rhodi with the layers as opposed to against them..that is where the pattern comes from..I tend to do that with malachite as well...

JEff: You are the boss of malachite, you always have such incredible shine on it! May I ask what you polished the sonora sunrise with? It looks shiny! Beautiful cabs as always! Amber

Thanks, Amber....I polish all my cabs with Holy Cow polish on leather. I wet the pad, and the polish when I charge the pad, with white vinegar.....I can get a great polish on just about anything..Malachite seems to come out the best, rhodachrosite a close second....I don.'t polish the blue coral at all though, especially not with the vinegar!!

To be honest, I am not sure why the white vinegar works, chemically, but it does. I had read once that vinegar helps tiger eye polish up well, so I tried it with the Holy Cow polish and it worked very well. I mentioned that to Guy Clark, who was at a show with his polish, and he said he had seen that result on his own stuff as well, that using the vinegar made a big difference. He didn't go into details because he didn't want to leak his "secret recipe". I am sure it has something to do with the mild acidity of the vinegar reacting with the rock???

Well, it is a natural cleaner, and remover of minerals (such as in coffee makers). Perhaps the acid allows some type of breakdown in either the rock or the polish that enables better refining of the rock surface.
