Okay .... you guys are gonna laugh at this ...
Is it okay for me to leave my saw (WF 7") outside during the day while I am at work so I can just go play when I get home?
It has been really hot here ... however ... I set it up usually under a big green umbrella.
Mind you, I will still clean it out every time I use it.
Having to get it out, set it up, use it, clean it up, bring it in, and put it away really does take something away from wanting to cut like a fool.
As always Julie

I concur. never take mine in. Never cover it with anything. Have even used it while raining, though I don't recommend doing that.

Mine stays outside too, uncovered. Been outside for about three years now. I never clean it, I just rinse out the tray once in a while.

Geez, and here I've been treating mine like it's made of precious metal or something! Of course, if I left mine outside, it wouldn't be there in the morning. In this neck of the woods, anything that ain't tied down tends to grow legs and walk off in the middle of the night, sometimes even in broad daylight. LOL!

no room inside, so it stays outside on a bench ralph made just for it. The only time it gets cleaned it when hes using it, the water from the blade sprays it off. lol

Okay, okay!! ;D
The only reason I said something about cleaning it is #1 we have very hard water here and if not wiped down well, the sediments are really bad.
And #2 ... the blades are showing slight signs of rust. Which I am really surprised at because I dry them off when I am done.
Thanks as always!

Julie: Just keep cutting rock until the rust comes off.

Julie Perhaps if you gave the wetted surfaces, prone to rust, a little squirt of WD-40 after drying them it may stop the rust. Jim

Since my wf isn't housebroken, it isn't allowed inside. Maybe if you wiped the blade with some kind of oil between uses it would protect it from rust.

I use light grade meneral oil in my two big saws and they are in my shop. My problem is getting oil all over with the trim saw. The 16 inch main saw is a Covington and has a housing that really cuts down on the mist.

Are the plastics in the WF prone to UV degradation if left too long in the sun? I've had some plastics get brittle and crack after a few seasons in the sun. Should the outdoor WF be kept in the shade?

On that question, I don't know the answer. My WF is the old type and is all metal.

Phew!!!
Have left it outside and it still lives .....er .... saws ;D
Since I have left it on the little table I got under my big green umbrella ... I have used it 4 times this week. Great Times!!
What I have been doing for the blade rust and it seems to be rusting at a strangely accelerated rate. When I am done, I have been turning it on its side and rinsing it off with the hose. I then dry the blade and apply some wd-40 that I have sprayed on the paper towel and then I wipe it off. It seems to help just a bit. But quite a bit of the rust comes off on the paper towel.
HardRock ..... I sawed like crazy today and when I wiped the blade off when I was completely done .... the rust is apparent.
You would think that with a wet tile saw, the blade would be treated so that it did not show signs of rust at least until 9-12 months, I would think. No?
