I got into a bizarre discussion with 4 of my co-workers
Like to get some other opinions.
You call in sick to work. Later in the day the company calls & asks you to come in.
They don’t / won’t give any reason why.
Do you feel obligated to come in?

Personally, I'd eat a big plate of spaghetti with lots of Parmesan cheese before leaving for work, take an emetic just before going in the door, and spew on the person that ordered the phone call...see if they'd call me in again....
Or - no

If you call in sick, you stay sick.

Man this is a pet peeve of mine! Where I used to work at the AG dept, most the buttheads used their sick leave as vacation then when sick, came in and infected the entire office and all our customers. This started a huge sickness cycle as we passed it all around and around. One of my like minded friends used to wander the office spraying all the file handles with Lysol in a feeble attempt to disinfect but to no avail. I hated working in the office and stayed in the field as much as possible.....Mel

Hahahaha Mel, that is me, but then I whine and complain and my boss just says to leave! LOL We have the lysol sprayers too. Or my favorite is to tell my boss that my son is sick, he knows I am a single Mom, so he feels too guilty to not pay me, LOL. But I do work a lot of overtime and since I am salary I keep track of it, and he sort of lets me take it as comp time!
If I was sick, and they asked me to come in, I would do as Lee suggested, barf all over the boss that called me in! LOL
Hey ED, 2 more weeks buddy, dont be sick for our big Friday night hook up!!!! Amber

I get pissed when people come in to our office sick. They usually end up infecting half or more employees.

Thanks So Much Guys!!! I was getting concerned about certain trends I see. You’ve all restored a certain amount of faith. Workers have rights too! heck... I don't want to work when I feel well damn if I'll come in when I'm sick! ;D

I must be living under a rock somewhere--I have never heard of this happening. If I called in sick, I was. I was such a dummy--I should have called in sick when I wasn't and had some fun! Where hubs works, there is no paid sick tme, you don't work, you don't get paid. So like Mel said, lots of sick people go to work and get everyone else sick. But after calling in sick, there is no way on earth that I'd let them call me back in.....what's the purpose of that? They can't run the place without you? Fine, then ask for a BIG raise Nona

I work for me. If I don't do it, I have twice the work tomorrow. My wife and myself took two weeks off to go to advanced schooling. It took us four months to catch up. I drag myself in. Perhaps one day, I will collapse at my bench. If I don't do it, it don't get done. People depend on me. When I get time off, I feel guilty.

I have only been called in sick a few times and it was usually because someone was out on vacation and I had to unlock something. Then I go back home. I make sure they know about it later too! Fran

When I did work in an office I kept a big bottle of sanitizer on my desk. I work from home now. I have only missed work once and it was because I had 2x pneumonia and got dizzy when I tried to sit up.
