Howdy folks, Well, it's a nice warm, not hot, overcast day today here at the ranch so I hauled out the ole Workforce and finished cutting all the baby t-eggs I had left from the Hauser Beds area back in California and just for kicks did a few of my smaller Mexican Red Hot ( or snowball, or Mexican Surprise, these are confusing) nodules. The Hausers were actually a surprise because they had way fewer hollow geodes and way fewer duds than I usually get. Most were just solids with blue to gray agate centers. Anyway, I'm only half through the diamond on that $9.00 Home depot blade and it still cuts stone like butter after chopping more than 200 small t-eggs, most of which had agate cores, in half. I am really liking this blade! Any, I'll take a bunch of closeups of the nicer eggs after lunch but here's a pic of my setup: And, here's most of the eggs going into the tumbler very soon. The small container is full of really nice little geodes, the nice solids I'll photograph and some neat red hots.

Nice set up only, you don't have the umbrella to shade you! ;D Looks like you have made the most of your cutting time! Fran

Mary Ann: Thanks. Yep, way way nicer than friggin crowded screwed up Commiefornia.
Fran: Man, I'm glad you mentioned that. You know I do have a giant umbrella and stand from when I used to do the bird shows. Now I just have to figure out where the heck I put it *L*.....Mel

Beautiful house. Don't really need an umbrella on those overcast days, wish we had more of em here. Looks like the perfect elevation too, in the cedar pines?

Jamie: Elevation here is about 2000 feet. Our home is in a grove of cedars and live oaks that have just been cleared to leave a fire break around the house and deer fenced section of the yard. Lots of blackjack oaks just a bit further from the fence. One of the reasons the biology is so interesting on the ranch is there are a huge number of tree species. and lots of live water. Close to 50 tree species not counting exotics so that means lots of cool bugs, birds etc.....Mel

With that setup, looks like you had a quality afternoon. Cool looking eggs too. I can't wait to see them finished!
Jamie, no worries, there's a big low preassure system on it's way. I even thought is was going to rain yesterday (in California!!!!). It's a big slow one and should give you some nice weather. Steve
