Howdy folks, When I was going through boxes the other day I found about 40# of small Moctazuma Agate nodules I'd got maybe 30 years ago. Since the old Workforce was already out, I figured I'd chop up a bunch for the tumbler to get them ready for the kiddies. Cut about 100 and still have 1/3 the diamond left on that blade and these were much harder than the t-eggs. Very cool! Agate was pretty disappointing though. Moctazumas often are. Maybe 30% were just quartz balls, some with a thin shell of agate and some with a little porous moss. Another 30% were small geodes which the kids will love. The remainder were solid agate but most not real pretty. Moctazuma Agate runs to lots of pale colors. Anyway, here are a few of the nicer cuts. Dang camera still won't focus exactly right and I don't know why *sigh*. Thanks for looking.....Mel The nicer cuts: Close ups of some nicer Moctazumas: One nice Moctazuma and what looks like an Agua Nueva or maybe a Laguna mixed in with the batch:

Wolf: I got a lot of rock and I lose things *L*. Now that I moved, I'm finding stuff again.
Amber: Just to show you how long ago I got this stuff, most the Mexican nodules I have I got from a dentist who worked down there, for about 50 cents to a dollar a pound. The real expensive stuff cost me $2 a pound. Man, those were the good ole days! Most the Agua Nueva around now comes, I think, from the Gem Shop and except for the mossy stuff ( lots of this runs to golden moss and tubes with small pink fortified areas) is pretty darn pricey for my tastes .....Mel

Umm, you have had those for 30 years? I don't think I could have left them alone that long! I feel like I am way behind because I have rock all over the back patio not cut up yet. I guess I should just slow down a bit and enjoy! It would be nice if I had great surprises like that though! Fran
