I am in the process of building a 14" slab saw and my question is with a 1725 rpm motor what pulley sizes do i need? I have some that are 2" 4" and i think a 6" or 7" is there a combo in there that will work ?

The first thing to do is see what your saw blade maker suggests as a maximum recommended speed. Then look at a blade/pulley speed and selection chart; you can find on at: www.diamondpacific.com/determiningsawsp.htmlTry to stay near the mid to lower end for longer blade life, or upper end for faster cutting speed. That will be your decision. Jim

These speeds are for a diamond blade... A 2" on the motor & the 4" at the blade will give you 850 rpm's A 4" on the motor & the 6"ish on the blade will get you ~1000 rpm's Those will keep you in a nice comfort zone. Dr Joe .

There was a post I read a while back about where people get oil. I think horse laxitive was one lower price, damn I can't remember the others...
Nate
Edit - did some searching. technical grade light white mineral oil was one suggestion. Several people seem to use light weight hydraulic oil with no issues, and the horse stuff I gues sis technically vetrinary grade or something like that.

Horse product is a food grade mineral oil. Some may be to thick for cold climate areas.

You do good work, can't wait to see it in motion! ;D
Thank goodness you painted it white so you could see if there is any oil spatter ;D
Thanks for sharing.

Dr, Joe has a twisted sense of humor. May be my long lost twin. Most oil saws after much use are a dirty oil color.
