I am new member to this forum but have been watching your works.
I am a wire-wrapper, using natural stone and agate cabs. I had the opportunity to earn cabs by wrapping cabs for a gift shop. I recieved payment of 3 cabs for every 1 that I wrapped. She ran out of cabs and now has been paying me with slabs and I would like to learn by cutting my own cabs and polishing them. I have a grinder picked out but need help with a saw.
There is a 10" band saw at a rummage sale near my house. Could a person put a diamond blade in that and use that for cutting the cabs ? Its only priced at $75.00.
I will be waiting for helpful information from you experienced folks.

You can get a brand new lapidary band saw for less than $200, but honestly, I (like alot of others) use a Workforce tile saw from Home Depot. They are around $90. I'm not sure about using a regular band saw, but I think that even the diamond "band saw" blades have to be used wet. Oh.... great to have you here. ;D

Thanks! I kind of thought that I needed to cut wet and that the saw at the sale wouldn't work. Most of the slabs I have are small, maybe I can just get by with the grinder. Hope so because Oct 1st I am purchasing the grinder.
How do you post pictures on here, sorry I'm new, don't know my way around yet.
