had this sitting on my desk for about a year..had it in my head that it was probably opal inside..finally dragged it to the shop....pictures don't do it justice...does not really flash a lot, but the top edge glows with a deep purple...it does have some of the more traditional flash, just couldn't catch it.. The purple shows up nicely in the photo. That's a neat shape, also. Great find.

The longer I look at it, the more purple I see. Nice find. Karock

Thanks, all..the shape is actually how the clam made it..I basically ground off as little of the rind as possible..kept the shape as it was originally

sara, I truely don't know where it came from. I buy up a lot of collections and it was in one of them. By the time I got it, it's origin was lost..

They are hard to photograph and I can see the blue at the top, I bet it is a real stunner in person!

Looks great. The best I can get is a Queen conch shell this weekend for $1. yard sale. I loved to clam but never opened one looking like that one.

That has got to be great if it glows even more than I'm seeing. T
