I started with a piece of Succor Creek Jasper about 10"x5-7"x5". Too large for my WF saw to slab. I cut a groove on three sides to isolate a piece about 3" thick. I split it off the main rock with a hammer and chisel. I got lucky and it broke off in one piece. I tried for a 1" thick split but it broke in two pieces. The next split was about 2 inches and it broke off as one piece. I have 4 smaller pieces total and 1 larger piece. Now I'll try to slab and make tumbling rough with the four smaller pieces and save the big one for later. I can see Oregon from here!

How did you make the cut in the large rock?

I used the work force saw and kind of 'eyeballed' it as I rolled it to cut three of the four sides. The fourth side had too much angle to be able to saw it. The inner part that I could not reach with the blade was about 2"x3" on the first piece and about 3"x4" on the next two attempts.

Nice material, looks like breaking it down went smoothly.

You are so brave. This is the biggest rock I have ever seen cut by a WF. Risk had its rewards here, very nice colors. Thanks for posting Karock

You did a great job. I've tried the throwing it on the floor method. I still find pieces when I sweep.

Those are really pretty and the cuts look great. Thanks for the chissel and hammer idea.

I'm very impressed that you were able to do that on a WF! Wow! That's a Beautiful Rock too with some great scenes. Steve
