Howdy folks, Still working on my polished fossil cabs. Here are today's efforts. The three black ones are all calcite based fossils so were kind of a bee-atch to get any kind of polish on but they came out pretty good. I like trying to polish unusual stuff most folks wouldn't try anyway. Thanks for looking....Mel Utah rugose( horn) coral: Utah black horn coral, uncommon stuff. These are two consecutive slices off the same piece of coral. White center on the one kind of undercut as it was pretty soft but I kind of like the etched effect. The other is much neater in person as the pattern shows more than it does in the pic; Ye olde " Devil's Toenails". Some folks call this clam chowder stone but I think the fossils are actually not clams, crepedulids maybe? The pattern was much better before I crowned it but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Love seeing the contrasting red and black and the other two have cool special effects. Jo

Those turned out nice. I like the two black ones the best.

Those are nice - the coral made a pattern that is pretty uncommon - impressive work, Mel! (like always, of course)

These look great Mel. You make it look so easy! I like the devil's toenail best.
