Howdy folks, Had a little time to kill before the riding association cowboy BBQ this afternoon so I tackled a couple of dopped stones from my problematic cab pile. I apologize for the crumby pics. Texas sun ain't like the sun anywheres else. Too dang bright outside even in the shade. Both these took a glassy shine but you can only tell by the tripod reflection in the plume cab. Man, my camera way prefers overcast days for taking rock pics. Anyway, thanks for looking....Mel Woodward Ranch black plume. The little silver gray specks aren't pits or scratches but rather the little silver spots of manganese where the black plumes hit the surface of the crowned stone. Can't do anything for it. It just happens when you grind through the tips of a plume formation. Found a single hunk of this jasper in the creek that ran through our old ranch near Hornitos. All the little sort of fortified patterns are silver hematite edged by deep maroon jasper. All this in a pink white background Weird stuff and unlike most the other jasper up there, but I like it.

I'd pick a favorite, but it would take too long. Great work.

That plume is sweet, but the jasper is sweeter. Really nice finds!
