I finally got some time to make a few cabs, all of which are different obsidians, all of which were collected at Glass Buttes, Oregon except the Mexican firewoks which came to me from Amber bless her loving heart. Woody Mexican fireworks obsidian from a slab Amber sent to me. Snowflake obsidian Gold sheen obsidian Mahogany/midhight lace obsidian Pumpkin obsidian Ghost obsidian Silver sheen obsidian Mahogany obsidian Silver sheen obsidian

Glorious glass! I really like the snowflake and the gold. That material is hard to photograph in a way that really shows how nice the sheens are.

Is the one that you named "mahogany/midnight lace" an intarsia? If so, I haven't seen so far such a perfect joint! All of them are beautiful but the first one is my favorite.

Adrian...........I would like to take claim for that perfect joint, but is natural, not two pieces. If it had not been raining when I shot these, the sheens would have shown better. Woody

Tony: Yes I did !!!! Check your bin again!!! Woody: Your obsidian collection is further along than mine, LOL!!!! You did some beautiful work here, it is really hard to photograph obsidian, and these really show off the cabs!!! I love that intarsia cab, wow!!!! Did master Mossy teach you how to do that so well? LOL!!!!!!Ghost obisidan is a new one to me??? I got a new obsidian, starry night, sort of like the fireworks, but smaller plume thingys, will have to get you some for your collection. I LOVE obsidian and glass, so I really liked this post!!! Amber

Man, you're a lot braver than I am! I'd be pulling my hair out trying to get all those obsidian cabs to take a nice polish. I can handle one at a time. You nailed the shine on them.

Stoner, and all: I think I get a good polish on the obsidian because I use the old fashioned mix of half mineral oil, half liquid dish soap, and cerium with a pinch of Linde A. Now, the exact why it works I do not know. Woody
