I visited an old friend in State College, PA today, and brought along a few slabs of the Tuxedo Agate I cooked up. ( forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=sawingb&action=display&thread=33886) He got out the Rock Rascal and we trimmed out and rough ground 2 tuxedo cabs and a owyhee bolo. I left him a few more slabetts (RTH member altamura, but he doe not post here so often). I need to do a little more grinding when I get home, and then will tumble finish as always.

That tuxedo is really pretty stuff. Sorry we couldn't hook up but I'm glad to found a closer place to cab.

Have you tried making Tuxedo Owyhee yet? I think we would need jasper with light pourous areas and dense patterned areas. In owhyee jaspers the density seems pretty uniform. THis process exploits pourosity differences within the stone. In agate the lighter pourous areas are generally the gray transluscent bands. I think it might be interesting to try a conglomerate where there was patterned bold colored agate (or jasper) breccia in a clear/grey agate. This might yeild a breccia with a dark background. Otherwise, thanks for all the comments, and I will post more pics when these are polished or I cut more preforms.
