I don't have any equipment to make cabs so I decided there just had to be a way to do it with my dremel!! Albeit time consuming, this is what I came up with. While not perfect by ANY means, I think it's not too bad!! This is wet, I will have to finish it up through processes in the rotaries....hope it doesn't ruin it! Thanks for lookin'!!!! Marie

You did a fine job - especially considering what you were using. Look forward to the finished product.

Dang, Marie, you put a shape and dome on that preform with the Dremel, that is as good as or better than any of mine done with the combination of the WF saw, Lortone SA-8 with expando wheel, and vibratory tumbler! I hope it's a good hard rock that can stand up to the rotaries - it'll make a fabulous cab, and with your wrapping skills, .... wow. Tom

Marie, I wouldn't have even attempted to do what you did. WOW. You never cease to amaze me. Can't wait to see it polished. It looks like it's got a terrific pattern. Jo

Very impressive! It is amazing that you could do all that with a dremel! I hope it will hold up in the tumbling process. It will be a beauty if it does! Fran

Tom - yeah my hands ache pretty bad after a full day of this too...but the end results are worth it I think! Maryann - you might have to have bigger chains to get Ralph to do it this way! It does take awhile for each one, but then the tumbling processes are so much faster! Toad - don't see a machine in my nearest (or farthest) future, but this works. I spent 7 or 8 hours yesterday doing this many, so it filled up my day....which is most of the time something I am looking to do. Then I go from something like this, to wrapping already done stones in the evening, while I sit and relax. I have been thinking about a grinding wheel, but not even sure that would be financially pheasable at this point....*sigh*....guess I'll just keep doin' it this way! Oh well, it's fun, and I do enjoy working with my hands a lot. Marie

Darn girl you have a bad case of rockaholism. Kinda like when I started working with silver, I couldn't afford the proper tools and I had to use mechanics tools.
When the bug bites you just make do with what you have and you did exceptionally well.
