I got to cab for awhile today,The first one is from a really cool box Amber sent me.Malachite maybe? This one came from Fishenman,he sent me some awesome slabs and my daughter zoomed right in on this,I'll take a guess and say Rhodocrosite.Maybe someone can give me the correct I.D.'s on these. I wasn't really aiming for perfection on these two,but I'm happy with the results.I've been pretty busy with other stuff lately and it was great to just relax and grind some rocks.Hope you enjoy the pics. The first one is definitely not malachite. 2nd is either rhodochrosite or rhodonite. I aways mix those two up.

They both look wonderful! I would guess the first is ruby in fushite or zoisite and the second is rhodocrosite. Fran

Great work Mike. The rhodocrosite is especially beautiful. I'll bet your daughter loves it!

I'm thinking the first one is ruby and zoisite or ruby and fushite. Ruby is the little flecks of purple. The 2nd one is definitely rhodinite. You got a great polish on both cabs. Both are difficult stones to polish. Great job!

Both are very nice cabs. My SWAG on the 2nd is that it is rhodonite - the black parts gives it away. Rhodochrosite would be much softer and wouldn't have that much black in it. Just my :2cents:

Oops, I said rhodocrosite. The pink is rhodonite. The other is ruby in zoisite. I always seem to get my rhodos flip flopped... Fran

The first one is actually virginite, a type of fuschite, and the last is rhodonite, nice job on both Mike!!! THE Baie Verte peninsula in north central Newfoundland is crossed by the major NNE-trending Baie Verte fault which is associated with a series of ultramafic lenses of ophiolitic origin (Williams, 1977). A number of the smaller of these lenses occur as an attractive mottled green rock, known as virginite, which is widely used for ornamental display. It also occurs as distinctive fragments in the Siluro-Devonian Cape St John Group volcanic rocks and sediments (Neale et al., 1975). The virginite has not been precisely described, usually being referred to as fuchsite rock Got the virginite at a local show. Amber

If we had to pick the one we liked the most, it would have to be the green one, though both are beautiful. Debby and Tom
