By now most of you have seen the pics from northshorerocks (steve) coming to hound in my backyard. The rocks he showed me, and helped me find the other day....well, here are some of the fruits of our labors. We still have a 5 gallon bucket full of rock to slice and dice, but Tracy, my husband, spent several hours last night doing some of them up. Here ya go! Red jasper - OMG this stuff is hard!! Pyphori (sp? ) this too is hard as all get out Hematite Jaspelite - another very hard rock!! Another jaspelite - darker red colors Agate Yellow jaspelite Brecciated jasper I'm not sure...but it's hard as heck! And the bucket of last night cuttings Hey Steve....How'd I do on the ID's??? AND the pointers he gave me on taking pics worked too!!! I only messed up a couple of them! WOOHHOOOOO!!! Enjoy the eye candy! Marie

I think I have saw competition! Way to go Tracy! I find that once I start in, I usually don't want to stop! It is so cool to cut a rock open and see what is inside! Steve sent me some of that beautiful material that you have there. I just love discovering what patterns I will find inside. I have a whole pile sitting outside waiting for time with the saw. I think you are going to love working with all of that Marie! Fran

Awesome stuff Marie! I really like the piece in the first pic. It looks like a lightening bolt. It'll make an awesome cab!

Wow, you've been busy! I thought you might like that Red Jasper! It looks awesome! Good job!
I'm cutting on one of your rocks now. It's a light green Stromatolite!

Wow, Marie - "eye candy" is right! Those are some scrumptious-looking slabs!
Tell me, what kind of saw was Tracy using for these? If he did those on a Workforce or other small trim saw, I want him to give me some lessons! Those are very nicely cut. Also, if it's a WF, you should use it to cut and shape your cabs as well - that's how I do mine.

Thanks everyone! Tom - Yes these were cut with a WF. He has recently started getting my shapes for preforms with it too...saves my diamond dremel blades. Then all I have to do is shape the "cab" with the dremel. He has really gotten good with the WF....still working on getting even cuts with the roll cutting, but he does get it right 90% of the time. Fran...yeah. He says he's "not in to rocks"...BUT, once he gets started cutting, he'll do it for hours and hours! One day last week he cut for like 6 hours straight!! I got preforms runnin out my ears! I gotta find more of that bright red jasper! I was amazed when I saw those patterns in there. Made a HUGE mess though....red everywhere! LOL Very very hard rock tho. I will probably get a couple cabs at least outta each of these slices...(I don't like to waste any part of the rock!) It will be sweet. This is a rock that Steve found for me....gotta find more! Aunuts - a couple of these slices will be in your box.....soon as I get some more stuff, I'll send it out to ya!!
