Wow those are very nice! Looks like they got the gravel for your tracks in west Texas or from the Rio Grande gravels. What a cool hunting are to have right in your back yard......Mel

Each time they level the tracks they add a little more of the standard issue, uninspirational banal basalt blend. The older gravel gets mixed in or slides down the sides into the grass. I sort of feel like I'm rescuing the rocks in the grass.

Maybe you could contact the maintenance crew and find out if theres an old timer who knows where they quarried the original road bed rock. It probably isn't far from you, I would guess.
