I got some time to cut a few more slabs this afternoon. I think my WF blade is on it's last leg, but it's still cutting! Now I need to get cabbing for the Christmas presents I want to make. Here's what I cut today... The whole group. A couple of small tiger eye - about 1" sides on these. Here's a few slabs off a chunk of a t-egg my friend Jeff brought from New Mexico. Here's another piece of Rhyolite Jeff also picked up in New Mexico. This material I got from Amber. I don't know what it is, but it's very pretty. I don't know how it'll cab, as I think I could have cut it with a hack saw. Any help on the ID would be appreciated. Here's a piece of amethyst my buddy Jeff colelcted in Canada (yeah, he gets around lol). Kinda crumbly, so I'm not sure if I'll cab it or not. Here's an awesome mossy / plumey agate from Amber. Another sweet agate from Amber. One of 'em backlit. Some skinny montanas. Largest piece backlit. Thses next few are from the "free" white/clear agate I got from Mary Ann's junk pile. She said it was plain old boring stuff. I beg to differ lol. Backlit. You can see the water freezing on the shelf the slabs are sitting on. Still enjoyable to work with even though my fingers were numb when I was done. What we'll do for enjoyment. Sheesh! Thanks for looking! Nate

I think you did great with frozen fingers and all! Looks like some really nice stuff to work with! The Lazurite is beautiful and even though I have not worked mine yet, I know it is very soft so maybe start on the 600. That is what I am having to do with some rhodocrosite I am trying to work on. Thanks for the ID on the Lazurite everyone. I'll give it a shot. Just for practice if nothing else.

Looks like Amber is sending all the good stuff to friends. lol You got some nice looking slabs there. The lazurite is soft but I still start on my worn 80 grit wheel. Use a light touch on all the wheels as it is easily broken. Makes a real pretty cab though.

Thanks Tony, Fran, Amber, Keith, and Brian. I'm hoping to get a few worked for Christmas. But first we need to get through this storm blowing outside...

Looks like fun!
I've started using my WF in the basement shower stall. I just have to be careful about what goes down the drain.

Nice looking slabs. Your friend does do the whole North American tour I guess.
I have cabbed a couple small pieces and all was good until the polishing. Maybe it got too hot or something but it got whitish lines running through it, looking like cracks but just a color change. That ruined it for me as the point of the cab was to not have it change at the end. Anybody see this with Lazurite? Is it the heat of the polishing?

Larry, I've never cabbed the lazurite yet, but it soulds like it is fractured and filled with polish. And yes, my friends Jeff and Cindy have land in NM, and ride their motorcycles all over the place. I guess Cindy had 90 lbs of amethyst strapped on her bike on one of their trips up there. LOL!
