*L* Howdy folks, First off, I have to remember clicking the preview button does not post the thread. So, I'll type it again and try to post it right this time. Just a few pics of a couple of hunks I cut yesterday while changing out my tumblers. Thanks for looking.....Mel First off, I thought this piece I got from Bill's rockyard was dino bone but it has no cell structure and actually looks more like coprolite. Or maybe the dino bone cell walls did not get preserved. It did look like bone on the outside and was a long skinny piece. Closer shot: This hunk was a disappointment. Whalebone from the Ventura/Santa Barbara County coastline in California. Was high contrast black and white on the outside, inside just the usual brown. Cellular structure is pretty nice but some cells aren't all the way filled so it'll have to be Hotstuffed to cab it. Closer look:

Mel, that first one looks like it will make some very pretty cabs. The subtle combination of colors is really very nice. (Regardless what it turns out to be - bone or coprolite or something entirely different!)

Mel I have done that preview thing before, too. I found you can go back one page and the typing will be there but you can't post from that page. But you can copy and paste from that page and it saves having to type it all over again.
I agree with you that the first one is coprolite, I have some very similar to that and the old gentleman that I got if from told me it was coprolite. I like the whale bone, looks cool.

I like the look of that first material. Hey Mel I posted a chunk on the fossil board that I'd like to get your opinion on. Kind of a similar dilemma.. is it bone, coprolite or just some sorta wtf of some sort LOL!

Mel: I do that all the time, make a whole big post and then it is gone, nothing more frustrating!!!!Or I swore I commented on something and then it is not there, or send an email, and I wonder why they never wrote back, LOL!!! So now I le tthe typos fly and don't preview, LOL
Cool bone, I like that whale bone, I guess filled in it will make an interesting cab.

Looks like poo to me too. The bone don't look half bad, some nice structure there.
