Dang that's one fine piece of Howardite ( rattlesnake jasper). Don't much see that rare one around anymore and the lower portion of that one is exceptionally nicely patterned and colored....Mel

Howardite is used for both the meteorite and the jasper from Nevada. Howardite is one of my regular searches on ebay and I hardly find any listings for the jasper. This week there were two and I picked up this piece. It is very hard to find these days. About five years ago, some one was selling rough for $5.50 a pound, but I wanted slabs. They said I would need to wait for slabs because they were busy. A few weeks later the price went to $55 a pound and since then, I don't know of anyone selling rough. I got this piece for around $30.00 delivered and I'm very pleased. Buying rough by the pound, you usually don't know what you are getting.

I got 3 pieces and I can probably get 4-6 cabs depending on size. I also cut some willow creek I got on ebay. Small slabs 1 to 2 cabs per piece.

I've had these slabs; gaspeite and howardite for quite a while but they have a lot more value as slabs than cabs.
