I took a few hours yesterday to go over the 10 inch Raytech slab saw I got at the Sterling Hill Mining Museum last weekend. It was missing half the vise and a few nuts and bolts but was otherwise in good condition.I cleaned it up a little and made a cover for it.The blade was shot so I installed a used Ridgid blade and cut a piece of Silver Sheen Obsidian from Tonyterner to sharpen it up.I was totally amazed at how much smoother it ran as compared to my 2 year old Covington 10 inch saw. It's a lot easier to service too, just remove a wingnut under the table and the whole table lifts up on hinges.Blade change took about 2 minutes. When the owner told me he wanted $50 dollars for it I paid and had it on the truck before he could change his mind! Cleaned up with it's new cover. After cutting the first slab. It was a case of being in the right place at the right time.I'm thrilled with how nice it runs. Mike

I love how the top hinges up & there's a plastic sump. Great if you use water & want to empty it out after each use. Nice that it has a motor feed.
For only $50 you scored! I wish I could find deals like that.

I would have fought you for it if I hadn't blown my meager wad on the flat lap. Are you using water or oil?

Mike: We lucked out!!! I knew that was going to be a nice saw, I think whoever that man was that they got the estate from took care of his stuff! I am smacking myself for not getting that box of silver tools, heck the one thing I want is $50, and that faceting machine, we might have to make another road trip! LOL

Mike, I am so glad you got that saw! You sure are creative and able to build what you need to make that the perfect saw! I am so impressed with how compact it is too! It really looks fantastic! Fran
