Do you have family in Mexico sending you these fire agates and opals?? You get some great rough and know how to make them shine.

Thank you everyone for your compliments. It is always reassuring to get some outside validation.
Most of my Mexican Opal rough comes from Magdalena, Mexico. I met the son of the mine owner at the Opal Society show in Anaheim, CA. For many years now I have got my rough from them. I buy 5oz jars. They are a crap shoot but I have ALWAYS managed to get enough out of each jar to be able to continue. I buy more every year even though I probably have enough to last many years.
The fire agates I earn by cutting. The lady I cut for is one of very few Americans that get this rough. The fire agates come from one family owned mine in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Very little of the grade I receive makes it out of there country. My supplier is a friend of the family.
I have many grades of the rough for both of these stones. If you click the image at the end of my post it will take you to a few offerings I made just for those of you who may be interested. They are of medium grade and good to practice on before you attempt to cut the REALLY good rough that is a lot more expensive.
Once again thanks everyone and I will be sure to post more as I create them.
Hey Tim, I am anxious to see what you do with the fire agates you got from me!!!! I can hardly wait!! ;D
