Mmmmmmm.... salsa... I'll bring the chips! Have you grown them upside down like that before? Do you have weights on them? Jo

My wife brought one of those goofy looking topsy turvy planters home, and wants me to hang a tomato plant from the front porch. We'll see what happens, but with the winds we get in the high plains, I think the plant will get beat to death.
Home made salsa is the best. With lots of home grown tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, onions, garlic and cilantro . I'm starting to drool, just thinking about it. Don

Nothing like homemade salsa, give us a shot of the garden in August, and then send the invitations for the party!

jo...no weights...no nothing....they are trying to grow upward up the side of the buckets at this time....but already have baby maters and tons of blooms. don...i thought the things looked goofy also ;D....these look a lot better i think....yep homemade salsa is so much better than you can get at any store and most restaurants....we use so many hot peppers its unreal.....wimpy stuff out there ;D amber....why wait till august ;D this bed is full of jalepenos..habeneros...thai peppers....a pepper gauntlet...its prob 20 feet long.....plants are all well over 2 feet tall already...we like hot stuff ;D about 8 bags of hotstuff from last year.....hope it lasts untill we start picking....it will be close. beefsteak and heirloom maters already 4 foot tall....maters and blooms galore. . squash is already blooming.....leaves are already 10 inches across...and blooms are 8 inches across. this stupid mayan cobanero....has to be the hottest stuff known to man....it seems to me hotter than a hibenerio. oops cant find the pic....but are picking peppers from it now....will add in a few. and yes don....gotta have all the herbs.....got them growing also ;D. kev.

he can't wait until the romas start coming in so we dont have to buy them to make my salsa. i do make it hot and he does love it. a friend of kevs calls it pschycotic stupid sh&t ....gotta be hot huh ;D i can make not as hot but u cant tell how hot the peppers are. i have been planting in containter 4 the past 5 years. me and a friend have had great luck with the home made topsy turby planters. i have even planted as late as june an in early july an had good luck. if u want to know i freeze all hot pepper then put them in the food processer that almost makes it in2 powder when u mix all 2gether is a better mix ... if i can answer any question please ask lisa

Must be nice to be able to plant early. With luck my tomatoes and peppers will go in the ground tomorrow. Hope you plant chili peppers too. I still have dried chilis from 3 years ago. Love those Thai peppers. And heirloom tomatoes are the best. I plant Brandywine. Wish our growing season was long enough to grow the old fashioned hubbard squash. Don

we had frost in low areas last week some corn plants are dead, they will have to either replant the corn or plant soybeans instead

Kev say the mayan pepper is stupid because he picked 1 an popped it into his mouth an they are really hot. And back this fall i made my fresh salsa he took some of it to work with him. one of the guys he works with calls it sycotic stupid sh.t because it is very hot! Kev loves my salsa but when you eat a pepper w/o anything else there is nothing to help cut the heat so the oil just keeps spreading an burning. Lisa

by the way it is easy to make these upside down planters an a lot cheaper. at the dollar store u can get a 2 1/2 gal bucket an a pack of spunges. in bottom of bucket cut a round hole easiest way is with a door hole cutter an its the right size. then take spunge cut 1/2 way across spunge an place it around the base of the plant. then turn upside down an place in planter spunge keeps dirt from falling out an keeps it moist. fill w/soil an u can plant the top of them also squash/cucumbers work well in them also. so for under 2 dollars i can make them it is better than paying 10 bucks for the topsey turby.

Smart Move Kevin...The red color is also supposed to be good for Tomatoes. My wife bought one for peppers, ten bucks for a reinforced plastic bag with holes. The best (moneymaking) ideas are so simple

Now that is a beautiful garden! I am going to have to wait till next year for mine. We are still trying to figure out what all we have in the yard before we start any planting. I also have to get my tiller from the house in Texas in a couple of weeks. Now, I love jalapeno peppers but not the hotter ones. I am a wimp! After growing the habanero peppers and forgetting to put gloves on to pick them and having my hands blister...ya, don't care for them any more. Keep us posted on how everything grows! Fran

get 'er growing frane.........jo go ahead and chuckle if ya wanna ;D
i popped that pepper in my mouth....after a minute i had both hands around my throat....then i was walking in circles lke my leg was tied to a stick....i managed to find the water hose spicket.....turned it on....stuck the water hose in my mouth.....got blasted with super hot water cause the hose was laying in the sun all day........all the super heated water from the hose did was push the hot stuff further down my throat.
i finally passed out.....when i woke up.....my lips were swole up so much that i looked liked i had sideways butt cheeks stuck on my face.....i spent the next 3 days blabbering and spitting mist on people when i talked.
stupid mayan peppers ;D......kev.

OM gosh that is too funny, I had a friend at the horse track in CA, he worked out the horses so he was a little guy barely 90 pounds and he would keep habeneros and scotch bonnet peppers in his shirt pocket and would take little bites of them all day, then at lunch time he would chop them up on whatever he was eating, he ate stuff that was so hot, so he tells me if I eat hot peppers it will help me lose weight, LOL, I think the weight loss comes from the circle of pain dance you run when you eat them.
