I have about 200 pounds of slabs and small rough in my lving room and was looking for a piece of biggs. I looked everywhere and couldn't find it. I looked outside and found it on top of the other 400 pounds of rough and slabs. I then realized that I don't need 200 pounds of rock in my living room and spent an hour or so going through it. The result was that I moved another 50 pounds outside and threw away 5 pounds, after sorting. I found this during my indoor hunt:

you lost me at "I don't need 200 pounds of rock in my living room" - what are you trying to say?
I guess living room rock shoul at least be slabbed though.
Nice wood.

I don't have a workshop and I am challenged trying to store things. The plan is to keep anything that I plan on working on in the next year inside and everything else outside. I will not be able to find anything stored outside easily. The outside stuff is slabs that I don't plan on cabbing but don't want to toss and rough that is too big for my trim saw. I bought a 16" Covington a few years ago and it still in the box. I'm getting close to retirement and will then have time to get things organized.
I think the slab is black bruneau, but I'm not 100% sure.

I see the black bruneau now. Sorry. The frosty bits on the edges made me think wood.
I was just joking you about why not have rocks in the living room. I have at least 200 lbs in my living room. ... and templates, and sharpie markers, and superglue ... and well you can see what I do when I watch TV.
I think there may be a law against leaving a 16" saw in the box that long.
Retirement does sound nice. Mine is a ways off.

There are definite laws about the slab saws. The rock police may come and confiscate your rough.

Wow! That is a really nice piece of bruneau! That will make at least a beautiful cab or two! I have to agree with the others though. Time to unpack that saw and get it set up in your spare time. Think of all the beautiful slabs you have yet to discover! Fran

Should be a law against letting a new saw sit in the box for more than 24 hours. Maybe a fine of one slabbing size rock for every hour over 24 that the saw sits unused. A word of advice, get a better blade for it. Those Covington gold blades are useless on hard material. You'll get about 4 or 5 cuts, then have to cut something soft to resharpen the blade. I just ordered a segmented blade for mine. Don

I must be an odd bird. I live alone yet I don't have any rough or slabs in my living room. I'm starting to wonder what's wrong with me. Maybe tonight I'll move some of the 1000# of rocks I have in the basement up to the living room. It'll give the cats something to ponder. ;D

I have rocks in every room of my apartment. Granted my apartment is a very small one bedroom. And yes, I even have some rocks in my bathroom, something to look at besides magazines...lol. Tony, what is wrong with you??? Better get some rocks in your living room before we all wonder if you are really a rockhound. I agree with the others, should be a fine for leaving a saw in a box. To heck with organization just get to cutting.
