That's a beauty. Just a warning to those that don't know but Az wood is notoriously fractured. I think I've heard more horror stories about ruined blades with AZ wood than all other rock combined. The rock breaks in the vise and wipes out blade while cutting. Some of the AZ rock clubs won't let members cut it without having a supervisor double check the clamping and make the member stand by the saw throughout the cutting.

The piece above looks quite clear, with only 2 large fractures (or maybe it's one fracture and a couple of hairs ). Nice find! Chuck

Yea your right, this stuff can be a fracture nightmare, but I am still pulled to it's beauty. Living here in Arizona and close to where this wood is, I have spent hours looking for chunks with as few fractures as possible, you may find four good pounds out of ten. It's alot like St. Johns Flower Agate, you have to buy almost five lb to get one or two good cabochons if that. Knock on 'WOOD', I havn't lost a blade yet.

Dang - looking at that picture, it almost looks like there must have been a sawmill there several million years ago! What a huge pile of logs!

Too bad you don't have much material to choose from.
