Today I emptied my UV10 for the first time this year and the bowl was cracked about 2/3s of the way around the bottom. It managed to keep itself sealed until I tried to rinse it out, then I realized the bowl was done. Has this happened to anyone?

Greetings "Wi54880", how many years have you had it or how many times you used it? As plastic bowls only have about 1 - 3 years lifetime & i am 100% sure UVI's are plastic bowls, however heavy duty rubber bowls may last beyond 10 years! I bought it last summer. It's rubber, not plastic (I know, same material).
I think the problem was that it was spinning when it vibrated and that's how it happened. $55 mistake on my part.

Greetings "Wi54880", are you sure that the bowl is rubber & not Polyethylene (plastic), because if click on the image below, you will end up at the Manufacturer Tru-Square Metal Products (Thumlers tumblers) & they only sell Polyethylene (plastic) bowls. From memory the yellow/green stripe = for metal burnishing, Blue stripe = for stone, no colored stripe = non standard or other manufacturer. -- I hail from (The Barony of Seabegs) Bonnybridge, Stirlingshire, U.K, where aliens sometimes come for a visit & about 4 miles west from this monstrosity! I suppose if the bowl was loose it could wear through from the outside. A very common problem with all brands of vibe tumblers is too much water. It causes grit to settle near bottom of bowl and wears a groove through the bowl. True Square changed bowl manufacturers several years ago (about the time I stopped selling their products) so not sure what life expectancy is.

The UV-10 bowl is a wear part that will last the longest if you simply don't use it. But, if your UV-10 runs 24/7 like mine, expect to buy a new bowl for it every year.
When you rinse between grit/polish changes, you will see a balck power that floats on top of the washwater. That's your UV-10 bowl being peeled off one micro-particle at a time. The bowl will gtradually thin and eventually waer a hole through its side.

Have only had my UV10 for three months but I had the same problem, only a crack. The drum was turning in the morning two weeks ago because of those durn wing nuts and yesterday it was split. We have built up the base with multiple coats of epoxy and just put it back in use tonight so we will see if it works or starts to leak right away. this is only meant to be a temp. fix because being in Canada, it takes 7-10 days to get anouther from the Rockshed.

Yep, UV-10 bowls are heavy plastic. I just had to replace mine. They last a real long time if you use them just for polish and prepolish but the fine grind bowls wear out quite fast ( I only got about a year). Used a tire patch and hot glue and got a couple of more cycles but the edges of the bottom wear faster than the rest till the whole bottom grinds through....Mel
