This piece is not that thick approx 5 1/2" x4 1/2" not quite 2" at the thickest end, however I have had trouble cutting it. The saw keeps wanting to hang up whenever I try to go through it. You can see where I tried to cut it how far I got. Am I doing something wrong? Is it the pet wood itself or could it be the saw? (which is now disassembled with a defective NEW motor in it)!!!!!! Thanks for any insight & tips! Donnie

Sometimes pet wood is about the hardest thing to cut. I have had it slip and bind too. Really hard stuff at times and can be very frustrating! With a tile saw, I can only cut small ones. I have sometimes cut the piece into a smaller cab section, then turn it on its side to slice. I have had a little better results that way when a piece is giving me problems. Fran

I'm with Fran on this one. Others may have more success but Arizona type wood for me is always a pain and when not a pain, often a blade breaker. It's harder than tacks and often has weird grain and lots of fractures which are all a recipe for tough cutting even on a big fancy saw. Really hurts when you vice up a ten dollar pretty piece of wood in a 20 inch saw and have it explode in the vice ruining a 350 dollar blade and I've done that more than once.....Mel

Had a feeling that was the case. Well, there's always a hammer & chisel to reduce it down to size!

Pet wood is still wood, and does have grain. That, and the fractures that steer a blade are a real pain in the seat. Woody
