Now, those are really beautiful! I suspect you are correct about the horse canyon but I couldn't say for sure. There are so many areas where the mosses come from but with that pattern and the green, I think you could be right. Fran

I have received confirmation form several different sources so I will state now with confidence that this is Horse Canyon Agate.
Thank you everyone.

I am always looking for horse canyon on ebay and some of your pictures look different than what I am use to which are more mossy. The material in the last 4 pictures is really great. One thing I've learned is that there can be a tremendous variation of the appearance of the same kind of rock.

About 15 years ago, I was privileged to go on a hunt to Horse Canyon with some folks from the Porterville, CA gem club. A couples of buddies and I were able to make it a two day hunt and were invited to stay overnight at this wonderful fancy RV park near the Canyon where the manager had a huge private collection of Horse Canyon Agate. I was literally stunned to see how many varieties of material came from that area. It actually rivals the Woodward Ranch and is actually even similar looking terrain. The usual Horse Canyon we think of is sort of mossy tube agate in shades of green but the site also contains string moss in green, white, gold, red, black, white on blue fortification agate, an odd tube agate looking like spaghetti noodles, some orbicular agate, plume : red in clear chalcedony, gold, white in clear chalcedony, white plume on jet black agate, forest green plumes in blue agate, green on black agate, an unusual sort of broad banded black, gold, and red agate, sagenite in several colors, orbicular rhyolite in several colors, and some really nice palm root. The green plumes or white on black plumes are my favorite but the number of variations in the area is pretty unusual.....Mel
